We are currently looking for a Level 2 or Level 3 Swimming Coach to join our team with the responsibility of running the training program for our Masters Squad. Please see the job description below. The Age Group Lead Coach/ Assistant Head Coach will have a key role within the club, deputising for the Head Coach, supporting the club's ethos and must be able to motivate and inspire swimmers of all ages and abilities.

 

The role involves working with Age Group Swimmers (age 10-14) and deliver a programme to allow swimmers to compete up to Regional level. The assistant will support the Head Coach to ensure the club continues to develop and progress.

 

On Deck Responsibilities

  • To lead the swimming programme for Age Group squad swimmers (e.g. Squad 2), delivering a programme that develops the swimmers, maximises their performance and ensures each athlete reaches their full swimming potential. This will involve early morning and evening training sessions for approximately 14 hours per week contact time.
  • To ensure the club continues to run in the absence of the Head Coach.
  • To assist other coaches and provide coaching cover where required across all competitive squads.
  • To cover competitions when required by the club at varies levels.
  • Attend Swim Camps where appropriate

 

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Planning of pool-based sessions for Age Group swimmers e.g. Squad 2
  • Planning of basic Strength and Conditioning sessions for Age Group swimmers e.g. Squad 2
  • Attend coaching meeting offering input to assist developing the swimming programme and running of the club.
  • Report to the Head Coach when required.
  • Support the Head Coach in pool and admin tasks when required/ requested by the head coach.
  • Attend meetings with other coaching staff, club committee, and club members when required.
  • Attend other meetings when required with outside agencies, local facilities providers, and the local club network. e.g. micro-league meetings.
  • Maintain accurate swimmer records e.g. registers.
  • Support the club in the running of its swim meets throughout the year.
  • Where appropriate, work with the Head Coach to oversee the selection of competitions and galas for the squads to compete in across the year to provide an appropriate selection of events and opportunities for all swimmers
  • Preparing team event paperwork e.g. selection of teams, race day paperwork
  • Monitor swimmers' progress and assist with swimmer transition within the squad structure (in conjunction with head coach and coaching team), communicate with parents and the committee on performance pathways and longer-term squad transition plans
  • In conjunction with the Head Coach develop the club ethos and long-term sustainability.

 

Development opportunities

  • Working with national level athletes supporting the Head Coach.
  • Developing Strength and Conditioning experience, training towards relevant qualifications.
  • Attending high level competitive events, providing coaching support as agreed with the Head Coach.
