SQUAD 4

The Lead Coach in consultation with the Head Coach have agreed the criteria requirements for Squad 4.

 The Lead Coach will continually assess swimmers within this squad to monitor progress.

 Attendance will be monitored and recorded and this will form part of any decision making process.

 SQUAD AIMS

All swimmers to aspire to compete at the North Lancashire Championships. The squad is focused club galas, competing in club and open galas and team fixtures. Focusing on developing both swimmers technical skills and learning to compete. The Squad 4 programme is aimed at swimmers aged 8-10 unless identified and selected by the Coach.

 SQUAD 4 ELIGIBILITY

  • All swimmers must compete in Club Galas and aim to enter at least 2 open galas per year when 9 or older.
  • All swimmers must attend a minimum of 3 water sessions out of 4 unless agreed with the coach.
  • All swimmers must compete in team and open competition if selected.
  • All swimmers must be competent in all 4 strokes and demonstrate emerging competitive skills such as starts and turns.
  • All swimmers must have the ability to cope with training demands of the squad.
  • All swimmers must agree, sign and return the squad declaration form prior to starting in the Squad 4.
  • The Head Coach will have the final decision  on all squad moves.

Equipment Required

Swimmers must bring all necessary equipment to training sessions (fins, small pull buoy, snorkel, kickboard, drinks bottle)

SQUAD 5

The Lead Coach in consultation with the Head Coach have agreed the criteria requirements for Squad 5.

 The Lead Coach will continually assess swimmers within this squad to monitor progress.

 Attendance will be monitored and recorded and this will form part of any decision making process.

SQUAD AIMS

All swimmers to aspire to compete at the North Lancashire Championships. The squad is focused and geared towards training to improve stroke technique and the correct competitive skill development, such as starts, turns and relay. The Squad 5 programme is aimed at swimmers aged 7-9 unless identified and selected by the Coach.

 SQUAD 5 ELIGIBILITY

  • All swimmers must compete at the Club Championships and team galas if considered appropriate.
  • All swimmers must attend a minimum of 75% of sessions per month unless agreed with the coach.
  • All swimmers must compete in team and open competition if selected.
  • All swimmers must be able to swim all 4 strokes and demonstrate emerging competitive skills such as starts and turns.
  • All swimmers must have the ability to cope with training demands of the squad.
  • All swimmers must agree, sign and return the squad declaration form prior to starting in the Squad 5.
  • The Head Coach will have the final decision on all squad moves.

SQUAD 6

 SQUAD AIMS

The squad is focused on developing basic technique and competitive skills across all 4 strokes. The Squad 6 programme is aimed at swimmers aged 6-8 unless identified and selected by the Coach.

SQUAD 6 ELIGIBILITY

  • All swimmers must compete at the Club Championships and team galas if considered appropriate.
  • All swimmers must demonstrate ability to swim all 4 strokes.
  • All swimmers must have the ability to cope with training demands of the squad.
  • The Head Coach will have the final decision on all squad moves.

Equipment Required

Swimmers must bring all necessary equipment to training sessions (kick board and drinks bottle)

SQUAD 7

SQUAD AIMS

The first of PSC development squads is focused on developing fundamental technique and introducing swimmers to competitive based skills across all 4 strokes. The Squad 7 programme is aimed at swimmers aged 6-8 unless identified and selected by the Coach.

SQUAD 7 ELIGIBILITY

  • All swimmers must aspire to improve their ability to swim all 4 strokes.
  • All swimmers and team galas if considered appropriate.
  • All swimmers must have the ability to cope with training demands of the squad.
  • The Head Coach will have the final decision on all squad moves.

Equipment Required

Swimmers must bring all necessary equipment to training sessions (kickboard and drinks bottle)
