SQUAD 1

The Head Coach has outlined the criteria requirements for Squad 1

 Attendance will be monitored and recorded and this will form part of any decision making process.

 SQUAD AIMS

All swimmers to aspire to compete at the British or Home Nation Nationals. The squad is focused and geared towards training for Regional and National level competition. The Squad 1 programme is aimed at swimmers aged 14 & over unless identified and selected by the Head Coach.

ELIGIBILITY

  • All swimmers must qualify and compete at the NW Regional Championships unless agreed by the Head Coach.
  • All swimmers must attend an average of 6 water sessions out of 8 per week, unless agreed by the Head Coach.
  • Saturday morning sessions is compulsory unless authorised by the Head Coach.
  • All swimmers must compete in team and open competition if selected.
  • All swimmers must have excellent all round technical abilities and skills.
  • All swimmers must have the ability to cope with training demands of the squad.
  • All swimmers must agree, sign and return the squad declaration form prior to starting in Squad 1.
  • The Head Coach will have the final decision on all squad moves.

Equipment Required

Swimmers must bring all necessary equipment to training sessions (fins, finger paddles, hand paddles, small pull buoy, snorkel, kickboard, thera-band/ tubing, sponge, skipping rope and foam roller)

SQUAD 2

The Assistant Head Coach and Head Coach have agreed the criteria requirements for Squad 2.

 The Assistant Head Coach will lead Squad 2 and work with other coaches to continually assess swimmers within this squad.

 Attendance will be monitored and recorded and this will form part of any decision making process.

 SQUAD AIMS

All swimmers to aspire to compete at the NW Regional Championships and beyond. The squad is focused and geared towards training for County and Regional level competition. The Squad 2 programme is aimed at swimmers aged 10-14 unless identified and selected by the Head Coach.

 SQUAD 2 ELIGIBILITY

  • All swimmers must qualify and compete at the Lancashire County Championships or have the potential to achieve these qualification times within their first season in Squad 2.
  • All swimmers must attend an average of 5 water sessions out of 7, unless agreed with the coach.
  • Saturday morning is compulsory unless authorised by the coach.
  • All swimmers must compete in team and open competition if selected.
  • All swimmers must have good all round technical abilities and skills.
  • All swimmers must have the ability to cope with training demands of the squad.
  • All swimmers must agree, sign and return the squad declaration form prior to starting in the Squad 2
  • The Head Coach will have the final decision on all squad moves.

SQUAD 3

The Lead Coach in consultation with the Head Age Group Coach and Head Coach have agreed the criteria requirements for Squad 3.

 The Lead Coach will continually assess swimmers within this squad to monitor progress.

 Attendance will be monitored and recorded and this will form part of any decision making process.

 SQUAD AIMS

All swimmers to aspire to compete at the Lancashire County Championships. The squad is focused and geared towards training for Districts, Counties & League fixtures developing both swimmers technical skills but also building their aerobic capacity. The Squad 3 programme is aimed at swimmers aged 9-11 unless identified and selected by the Coach.

SQUAD 3 ELIGIBILITY

  • All swimmers must qualify and compete at the North Lancs District Championships or have the potential to achieve these qualification times within Squad 3.
  • All swimmers must attend a minimum of 3 water sessions out of 5 unless agreed with the coach.
  • Saturday morning is compulsory unless authorised by the coach.
  • All swimmers must compete in team and open competition if selected.
  • All swimmers must be competent in all 4 strokes and competitive skills such as starts and turns.
  • All swimmers must have the ability to cope with training demands of the squad.
  • All swimmers must agree, sign and return the squad declaration form prior to starting in the Squad 3
  • The Head Coach will have the final decision on all squad moves.

Swimmers must bring all necessary equipment to training sessions (fins, finger paddles (not hand paddles), small pull buoy, snorkel, kickboard, drinks bottle)
