Masters Swimming Success
The British Swimming Masters Decathlon competition is a method of ranking individuals nationally and fairly no matter what their age, and is an annual competition in which swimmers accumulate points for up to 10 swims out of the 18 different swimming events available.
In this, Preston Men and Women’s senior and Masters teams are currently ranking 4th and 10th respectively in the country. We also have two swimmers in the top 20 individual rankings. Michael Peacock ranked 12th and Dean Heaps, Club Captain ranked an incredible 9th in the country.
To rank higher swimmers must swim as many varied events as possible, as fast as possible throughout the year. Then 10 swims are time adjusted to make it fair for different ages and then awarded fina points. They are added together and then compared with every swimmer in the country who have entered any Masters events.
It’s a great way to track team and individual performances and our current performance is showing great depth and strength. There’s still the rest of the year to go but it’s an unbelievable start.
