Swim England Masters National Championships 2017

 

Preston Swimming Club (PSC) saw a very successful championships this year at Ponds Forge International Sports Centre in Sheffield. The Team attended with a 14-swimmer strong squad, consisting of swimmers aged 18 and above from Senior Sprint Squad, with their coach, Steve Heaps.

The squad included Dean Heaps (25-29), Luke Pool (18-24), Michael Peacock (30-34), Patrick Hill (18-24), Rob Hamer (18-24), Sohan Rathod (18-24), Ethan Fielding (18-24), Byron Hall (25-29), Katie Hands (18-24), Megan Green (18-24), Sammy-Jo Hollings (18-24), Laura Joyce (18-24), Rosie Kincaid (18-24) and Jo Grime (30-34).

Across the weekend, the team secured a massive 13 National Medals (3 GOLDS, 5 SILVERS, 5 BRONZES), and to add to the success, broke 21 Club Masters Records along the way, as well as 16 new PBs.

The weekend saw some extremely good times, fantastic team spirit and very competitive swims.

Team PSC also had some narrow misses for medal opportunities in the 25-29 Men’s 400IM (Heaps – 4th) and the 72+ Mixed 4x50m Medley Relay (Green/Heaps/Hamer/Hollings – 4th).

  • 72+ Mixed 4x100m Medley Relay (Green/Heaps/Hamer/Hollings)
  • 72+ Women’s 5x50m Freestyle Relay (Green/Joyce/Kincaid/Hands)
  • 18-24 Men’s 100m Freestyle (Pool)

BRONZES:

  • 72+ Women’s 4x50m Medley Relay (Grime/Hands/Green/Joyce)
  • 72+ Women’s 4x100m Freestyle Relay (Hands/Green/Joyce/Grime)
  • 72+ Mixed 4x50m Freestyle Relay (Pool/Hands/Hill/Hollings)
  • 72+ Men’s 4x200m Freestyle Relay (Peacock/Hill/Heaps/Pool)
  • 30-34 Men’s 400m Individual Medley (Peacock)

This was a fantastic display of speed and strength in the club’s longest serving swimmers, and a result which has not been achieved before.
