Seals Second Micro League Gala

PSC Ten year old Seals Team
Sharks ten year olds team

Preston Sharks took first place in their second gala of the season in Division One of the Micro League Sharks were in excellent from at Salt Ayre Leisure Centre in Lancaster leaving hosts Carnforth, Leyland Barracudas and Fleetwood in their wake.

Satisfied team manager Steve Heaps said: “This was an important win for the team. We need to keep at least this level of performance up for the rest of the season. We have two galas remaining before the summer and we have to make sure we gain enough points to earn our place in September’s grand final. There are certain areas in which we still need to improve, and we will be working hard over the coming weeks to ensure this is achieved. I would like to thank all the teachers and coaches who work tirelessly with the swimmers to ensure they are in shape for this competition.”

The nine-year-old girls’ team of Alishia Nelson, Elissa Gornall and Alicia Wood came second in both relays, with Nelson also coming second in the 25m freestyle and butterfly.
The boys’ team was made up of Connor Adams, George Robinson, Chris Wilson and Raees Patel

The 10 year girls’ squad comprising Portia Riding, Indah Higson, Holly Mawdsley and Emily Makinson came second in the medley relay with three personal best times. Mawdsley, Higson and Riding also took individual second positions in the 50m breaststroke, backstroke and freestyle.
The 10 year old boys were represented by James Brown, Brandon Kinder, Ben Riding and Sean McGinty and they came second in both relays. Kinder was in splendid form to take first position in both breaststroke and butterfly, with McGinty coming second in the freestyle.

The 11-year-old boys provided inspiration to the rest with a full house of first places. Dominic Walker, Lee Reeder, Andrew Davison, Bradley Wallbank and Toby Seers won both relays, with Walker swimming PB times as well as taking a club record in backstroke. Reeder was typically strong to take first in both butterfly and freestyle with Brandon Kinder, 10, swimming up an age group to complete the clean sweep with first in the breaststroke.
For the 11 years girls, Kathryn Greenslade, Ella Brown, Danielle Buchanan and Sheena Patel came second in both relays as well as coming second place in all the individual events – Greenslade in the butterfly and freestyle with a PB, Brown in the backstroke and Buchanan in the breaststroke.

There was also a perfect set of results recorded by the 12-year-old girls. Alishia Finch, Abbie Kitcher and Shantelle Austin were joined by Kathryn Greenslade, 11, to storm home first in both relays with all swimmers taking PBs in the freestyle event. Austin lowered the club record again when she took first in the 50m butterfly, Kitcher took first in both the freestyle (PB) and breaststroke, with Finch coming first in the backstroke, again with a PB.
The 12 years boys almost replicated the success of the girls by only dropping one place. Harry Murphy was joined by the 11-year-old swimmers to win the medley relay and come second in the freestyle. The individual events all brought first places – Murphy took the freestyle and backstroke (PB), Seers the breaststroke and Reeder the butterfly.
