Seals Win Promotion
Preston Seals bounced straight back to Division B of the North West Micro League when they took second position in the Swim Off Final, held at West View Leisure Centre.
Following last season’s relegation, the Seals battled hard against tough opposition to come out in a promotion
position behind gala winners Garstang.
Team Manager Ian Parker said: “This was a fantastic result. To be promoted into the next division is an awesome
outcome.”
The nine year old girls’ team was made up of Imogen Carr, Hannah Wilding, Emily Armstrong, Amelia Carter and Hannah Callon, who swam two individual events, coming second in the 25m backstroke.
Jack Dunn, William Howard, Kieran Anderson and Sam Gelder provided the boys team.
The 10 year old boys were in splendid form coming first in the freestyle and medley relay.
Sohan Rahod, Matthew Newby, Owen John-Haslem, Joseph Duerden, Sam Hollingworth and Matthew Monks
provided the teams. Monks also went on to take first in the 50m backstroke, setting a club record.
Kate Wilkinson, Natalie Lutaaya, Hannah Murphy, Ruth Buckley, Prisha Patel and Megan Eastwood also claimed a first position in the medley relay, coming second in the freestyle.
Lutaaya took an individual first in the breaststroke, with a personal best (PB) time, and came second in the freestyle.
Murphy was squeezed into second place in the butterfly but still set a club record and Patel came second in the backstroke with another PB.
Hugh Barnes, Patrick Hill, Alex Joyce and Ethan Fielding won both relay events lowering the Seals record in the medley.
Hill also set a new record in the individual freestyle event as he cruised to first place.
The girls also made it a double top in the relay events.
Katie Morley, Georgia Elderfield, Charlotte Gornall and Claudia Keogh provided the winning team, with Gornall also taking first in the individual breaststroke and Morley swam a PB to come second in the freestyle.
The 12 year old girls relay team were not about to let things slip in the swim off. Keara Mulvaney-Slater, Olivia Baron, Eleanor Laurence, Georgia Murphy and Hayley Graveson won both the medley and freestyle event.
Laurence yet again lowered the Seals club record as she took first in the 50m butterfly with Baron also taking top place in the freestyle.
Joshua Watson, John Carter and Chris Durney were joined by 11 year olds Hill, Joyce and Fielding to compete in the boys events.
