Seals Second Micro League Gala

PSC Nine year old Seals Team
Seals nine year olds team

Preston Seals came second in their second gala of the Micro League season staged at West View Leisure Centre.

Team manager Ian Parker said: “I am very pleased. It was with an impressive performance to finish second behind a very strong Colne team.”

Imogen Carr, Amelia Carter, Emily Armstrong, Hannah Callon and Hannah Wilding comprised the promising nine years girls team. They took first position in both relays, and Wilding stormed to victory in the individual 25m breaststroke, while Callon was second in the freestyle.
The boys’ team was Sam Gelder, Kieran Anderson, Ross Kitcher and Jack Dunn.

The 10-year-old boys were in excellent form, with Matthew Monks, Matthew Newby, Sam Hollingworth, Owen John-Haslem, Joseph Duerden and Sohan Rathod combining to earn first position in both relays. Monks also took first in the 50m backstroke, setting a club Micro League record while Newby won the breaststroke. A further two second places came from Haslem and Duerden in the butterfly and freestyle.
The 10 years girls’ team of Prisha Patel, Hannah Murphy, Megan Eastwood, Ruth Buckley, Katie Wilkinson and Georgina Britton came second in the freestyle relay. Eastwood and Murphy recorded personal best times to finish second in the freestyle and butterfly, and Patel also took second in the backstroke.

11-year-olds Patrick Hill, Ethan Fielding, Alistair McLaughlan, Hugh Barnes and Alex Joyce were unbeatable, taking first place in both relays and all the individual events. Fielding took the backstroke with a PB, Joyce won the butterfly and breaststroke and Hill the freestyle.
The girls’ team of Katie Morley, Charlotte Gornall, Georgia Elderfield and Claudia Keogh also showed strength. They recorded a first in the freestyle relay, and there were top positions from Morley in the freestyle and Gornall in the breaststroke, both in PB times. The girls also came second in the other individual events.

The 12-year-old girls repeated the dominance of the 11-year-old boys with a clean sweep of victories. Eleanor Laurence, Kiera Mulvaney-Slater, Olivia Baron and Georgia Murphy took both relays in style. Laurence then repeated her success in the season’s first gala by again lowering the club record in the butterfly and breaststroke. Mulvaney-Slater recorded a PB in the backstroke and Baron made it six first places in the freestyle.
Joshua Watson and John Carter were joined by 11-year-olds swimming up and took second position in both relays, with Watson winning the backstroke.
