Satellite Meet

Satellite Meet Medal Winners Preston Swimming Club came away with 8 Gold Medals from the annual Satellite Open Meet at Macclesfield

Preston took 27 swimmers to the event and supplemented the 8 gold with 9 silver and 8 bronze medals – the club also rose to fourth position in the Club rankings from a strong contingent of 38 clubs

Preston’s Head Coach, Steve Heaps, said “The opposition this weekend was good, the three big squads finished above us in the top club award and we had some swimmers missing due to other commitments, so to finish 4th behind such established squads is a very good achievement.
We had a lot of swims over a very demanding programme – 3 sessions a day over the two days is very intense and all credit must go to our swimmers for the professionalism shown throughout. We only had one disqualification throughout the weekend and this is testament to the hard work and dedication the teachers and coaches have shown in improving the skills of our swimmers.
We also now have even more swimmers knocking on the door of Regional and National qualification and we will continue the hard work to ensure all our swimmers reach their potential”.

9 year old Alicia Wood was the youngest medal winner as she took a bronze in the 200m breaststroke and Rebecca Moore (10) also took a breaststroke medal as she came second on the 50m event. Ben Riding (10) took bronze in the 200m freestyle.

Dominic Walker (11) was in impressive form as he took gold and smashed the meet record in the 200m backstroke, Andrew Davison (11) powered home for gold in the 200m individual medley and also took two silver medals in the 50m and 200m breaststroke and a bronze in the 50m butterfly, while Patrick Hill got silver in the 50m backstroke.

Kathryn Greenslade (12) struck gold in the 200m backstroke and Molly McManamon (12) took silver in the 100m backstroke. 13 year old Abby Huartson came second in the 100m breaststroke and Matthew Greenslade (14) took a bronze in the 200m backstroke.

Charlotte Sinclair put in a strong performance across the two days to take four medals. All rounder Sinclair got gold in both the 200m and 400m individual medley, silver in the 200m breaststroke and finished with two bronze medals in the 200m freestyle and 100m butterfly.

Fifteen year old Jack Smith took a medal of each colour with gold in the 100m breaststroke, silver in the 100m breaststroke and bronze in the 100m butterfly. Luke Pool (15) finished with a gold medal in the 200m freestyle and a bronze in the 400m event.

Mark Tootill (17) had a fabulous weekend as he recorded another national qualifying time as well as snatching a chest full of medals. Tootill took gold in the 100m backstroke (national time) and 100m butterfly, silver in the 200m backstroke and bronze in the 100m freestyle.
