Salford Medal Winners

Preston Swimming Club members produced quality performances at the City of Salford Level 2 Spring Meet.
The open event takes place at the Broughton Leisure Centre in Salford and sees a full weekend of competition.

The pick of the performances came from nine-year-old Portia Riding.
In her first year of open competition, she cruised to gold in both the 50m freestyle and backstroke in times of 38.13 and 43.76 respectively. Fellow nine-year-old Indah Higson also took gold in the breaststroke in a time of 51.34.

The boys were also in excellent form with Ben Riding getting silvers in breaststroke and backstroke, together with a bronze in the butterfly.
Sean McGinty came home with two silver medals, in the freestyle and butterfly.

The 10-year-old events brought a silver medal for Ella Brown in the backstroke. There were also two bronze medals for Ethan Fielding in the freestyle and backstroke.

Lee Reeder took silver in the 11-year-old 200m individual medley and in the 100m butterfly, where he pipped team-mate Bradley Wallbank, who took the bronze.
In the girls’ events, Kathryn Greenslade took bronze in the 100m backstroke.

Matt Greenslade, 13, had to be content with a silver medal as he missed out on the gold by a mere two tenths of a second in the 100m backstroke.
Lydia Walker also came back with silver in the in the same event for the girls.

Bethany Shaw took silver in the 15-year-old 100m freestyle as well as a bronze in the same event in the open category.
Shaw also took bronze in the backstroke.

Charlotte Sinclair also got in on the medal act, talking silver in the gruelling 400m individual medley.
