Paul Davison appointed new Head Junior Coach

September 2016

The club is delighted to announce that Paul Davison will lead our Development division from September 2016 having previously been the club’s Head Age Group Coach.

This has been a successful season both in and out of the pool for Paul. His swimmers have continued to qualify for County, Regional and National competitions, whilst out of the arena he has happily had an addition to the family with the birth of his daughter, Poppy. As a full-time schoolteacher and a growing family, the club’s main priority has been to retain Paul’s coaching services and allow him to combine his role at the club with his other commitments.

Samir Ahmed, commented: “We have been privileged over the past two years to see our age-group programme deliver good performances and that is largely thanks to Paul. His new role will ensure our development swimmers moving up from the learn-to-swim programmes and in to Pre MDS, D, C and B squad are all progressing at the desired rate and achieving the necessary skill and technical criteria we set out.

Nick Holmes, Chairman of Preston SC, commented: “Paul’s appointment is one that will allow him to utilise a much wider skill set he can bring to our team. Our staff education programme has enabled us to up skill our workforce and we are now in a brilliant position with each lead development coach at least Level 2 qualified and beneath that we have a healthy number of level 1 qualified coaches. It is a step in the right direction and whilst the swimmers can profit from being consistently coached to a high standard by Paul and his team of coaches, we are confident we have the best person to manage a number of different areas across this section of the club, which will ensure we have a system that encourages our swimmers to thrive and fulfil their maximum potential.
