North Lancashire Level 3 Gala.

Preston Swimming Club took a large contingent for a full weekend of events at the annual North Lancashire Level 3 Gala.

Staged at Palatine Leisure Centre, Blackpool, the swimmers put on an impressive display, showing some early-season speed. Of the 275 swims, more than 75% resulted in personal best times.
A total of 12 gold, 13 silver and eight bronze medals was topped by a healthy 28 ‘speeding tickets’ – awarded when the swimmer is too fast for the graded event.

It was the first large event for some of the nine-year-olds but they handled the occasion well.

In the boys’ events, Connor Adams came away with four speeding tickets, and Sohan Rathod and Chris Wilson three, as well as winning a gold and bronze medal. George Robinson won a bronze.

In the girls’ events, Alishia Wilson was issued with two speeding tickets as well as winning three silver medals. Ruth Buckley claimed a gold and Alicia Wood won silver.

The older competitors also included their personal best times with speeding tickets and medals awarded. Top of the pile were Portia Riding, 10, who got four speeding tickets, Laura Joyce, 13, won three and Patrick Hill, 11, took two.
