THIRTY club records and numerous personal bests were achieved when Preston Swimming Club staged its two-day annual championships at West View Leisure Centre.

Bethany Kington was one of the stars of the show, totally dominating the 17 years and over category. She also broke five records – in the 100m breaststroke and backstroke, and the 200m butterfly, freestyle and individual medley.

The oldest competitor in the championships – 23-year-old Ian Parker – claimed top prize in the senior boys, with Byron Hall in second place.

In the youngest age group, the eight years and under category, there were many close finishes. In the girls’ event, Holly Mawdsley came out on top, winning three out of the four events with Courtney Rogers – who won the 25m butterfly – coming second overall. Indah Higson, Jessica Hargreaves, Prisha Patel and Caitlin Dugdale also showed great promise.
