We are here to help you achieve your full potential

Preston Swimming Club are proud to have an amazing group of coaches and teachers.

In order to provide the best possible education in swimming to our members, our aim is to have every lead coach or teacher at least Level 2 qualified, and for all volunteers to have achieved at least Level 1 teaching qualification.Find out more about our team by clicking on a profile below.

Head Coach

Swimming experience & qualifications: Learn to swim teacher, Development, Age, Youth & Senior Coach – I learnt the trade from the start. Head Coach at PSC since Sept 2014

Favourite swimmers: Fly: Michael Phelps, greatest of all time. Backstroke: Natalie Coughlin, 12-time Olympic medallist and first woman under 1min for 100 back. Breaststroke: Brendan Hansen, former world record holder at 100 & 200 breast. Now a coach and Masters swimmer. Freestyle: Ian Thorpe & Rebecca Adlington, great distance swimmers, role models and ambassadors for the sport.

Best moment in swimming: Everyday! Representing our team & wearing the PSC shirt every day is a privilege.

Coaching the first woman (Kat Greenslade) in this City’s history to break the 2:00 minute mark and in doing so winning the National Championships with a time of 1:59:63 and being a part of the successful PSC team at the Summer Nationals in 2016 – those who were involved will understand!

Coaching / Teaching Philosophy: Every swimmer counts. Be proud about what you do and who you represent, show passion for what you love doing, and realise your potential through making the most of your abilities.

Jess Wilkie

Head Age Group Coach

Swimming Experience & Qualifications: Former Scottish club record holder, Scottish Age Group Champ, Scottish Commonwealth Trials Finalist. BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Science, Higher National Diploma Sports Coaching, Level 2 Teaching Swimming.

Favourite swimmer: Caitlin McClatchey & Nathan Adrian

Best moment in swimming: Watching some of my team mates race in the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

Coaching / Teaching Philosophy: Do the little things first and then big things will follow.

Paul Davison

Head of Junior Swimming

Swimming Experience & Qualifications: as a swimmer – competed for PSC, Wigan Wasps and later captained Gallica Elite Swim Squad. Became county, regional and multiple National age group champion 100, 200m Breaststroke. Competed at Commonwealth, World and Olympic Trials and British Champs finish of 11th. Represented Lancashire county for 5 years. Later represented GB juniors in the World Biathle Championships in Sardinia, Italy. Also played water polo for PSC.

As a coach – Level 3 qualified, successfully coached swimmers from development level to national gold medals. Age Group coach at PSC, taking the club to multiple national Arena League finals and coming 3rd in the National Junior League. North Lancs Sub league team champions for 5 years running. Former North Lancs team manager for 4 years.

Favourite swimmer: Popov- legendary master of technique, Grant Hacket-  master of skill and work ethic, Kosuke Kitajima – doing the double double in breaststroke, won gold medals for the men’s 100 m and 200 m breaststroke at both the Athens 2004, and the Beijing 2008) and most recently Adam Peaty for the domination of the 100m event in Rio.

Best moment in swimming: Close one between….becoming National Age Group champion as a swimmer and being part of the PSC Arena coaching team that won the Arena B final!

Coaching / Teaching Philosophy: Great Skills = Great Swims

Steve Heaps

Head of Coaching Pathways & Club Development

Swimming Experience & Qualifications: Ex Competitive Swimmer from back in the days when i had hair and a six pack! L3 Coach, Ex Head Coach PSC.

Favourite swimmer: Alexander Popov, Michael Gross (Giants of technique and skill)

Best moment in swimming: 2013 National Arena League B Final – PSC winning for the first time in their history. (The top boy in this final was a certain Adam Peaty who swam for the City of Derby)

Most recently Steph Slater at 2016 Paralympics, it’s incredible to think what has been achieved, especially when you know the whole story!!!!!!!!!!

The 2008 Men’s 4 X 100 Freestyle Relay Olympic final, watch it you will understand!!
